The North Carolina Department of Transportation has planned a series of public meetings on the proposed Southeast Extension of the Triangle Expressway public meetings in coming months to “provide information on the project, share the preliminary design of the project and gather feedback from the public.” The project, known as Complete 540, would extend the Triangle Expressway from the N.C. 55 Bypass in Apex to U.S. 64/U.S. 264 (I-495) in Knightdale, to complete the Interstate 540 outer loop around the greater Raleigh area. The project is estimated to cost approximately $2.2 billion and is scheduled for completion by 2027. Members of the public interested in participating in the meetings can obtain more information from the Department of Transportation at (800) 554-7849. In December, the Federal Highway Administration approved the final Environmental Impact Statement that was prepared for the Complete 540 project.
